As part of the “Science and China” Xinjiang outreach program, the Xinjiang Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences invited Academician LV Daren from the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of CAS to give public science lectures on June 19–20. He delivered a talk titled “Whole Atmosphere Detection and Process Research” at Urumqi No. 113 High School and Xinjiang University. At the high school, LV used vivid and accessible language to unveil the structure of the atmosphere and modern detection technologies, inspiring students' curiosity about atmospheric science. At Xinjiang University, he presented a more in-depth academic lecture to four departments, covering the evolution of atmospheric observation and its practical applications in weather forecasting, aerospace safety, and climate modeling. He highlighted Xinjiang' s unique geographical advantages for atmospheric studies and called for interdisciplinary collaboration. This event, a key initiative under the“Science and China”program, aims to integrate cutting-edge science with regional development through high-level public engagement and academic collaboration.
