From February 11 to 12, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) held its 2023 Annual Work Conference in Beijing. President and Party Secretary of CAS Hou Jianguo made a work report and a concluding speech. Vice President and Deputy Party Secretary Yin Hejun, Vice President and Party Member Zhang Yaping presided over the meeting in stages. All the leaders of CAS, some of the old leaders, the Director of the Department, the Director of the Specialized Committee of the Department and relevant leaders attended the meeting.

This meeting is a very important meeting held during the critical period when CAS is comprehensively studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and comprehensively realizing the goal of "Four First". The meeting was guided by Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, in-depth study and implementation of the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, accurate grasp of the new deployment and new requirements for science and technology innovation in building a modern socialist country, summarizing the work in 2022, clarifying the general idea of accelerating reform and innovation development of CAS in the coming period, and deploying key work in 2023.

The delegates had a lively discussion around the theme of the meeting. The meeting also awarded the CAS 2022 Outstanding Scientific and Technological Achievement Award and Young Scientist Award, and read out the awarding decision of CAS 2022 Person of the Year and Team of the Year, and Science and Technology for Development Award.
