Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed an agreement on January 25 with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) for comprehensive cooperation between the two sides.
TUIMEBAYEV Zhanseit, Rector of KazNU, led a delegation of more than 30 researchers of various disciplines, which was the first time for the University to organize such a big group, to seek cooperation with Chinese partners.
“Previous cooperation between the two parties has laid solid foundation for the new agreement, which can be regarded as a new start to achieve greater success in science communication, scientific research, talent training, platform building, and other aspects,” said ZHANG Yuanming, Director General of XIEG.
In 2023, the two parties jointly established the Sino-Kazakhstan Joint Laboratory for Remote Sensing Technology and Application and launched the Action Plan for Green Technology Development in Central Asia.
“XIEG is the closest partner of KazNU both geographically and cooperatively,” said Mr. TUIMEBAYEV Zhanseit, “The Joint Laboratory is a testament to the collaboration and friendship between the two countries, which is also an important achievement of the Belt and Road Initiative.”
KzaNU is recognized as the first university in Central Asia according to the QS University Rankings. The signing of the new agreement marks a new level of cooperation between XIEG and KazNU.
