On July 28, the "National Science Education Summer School" training for primary and secondary school teachers (Urumqi venue) was held in Xinjiang Normal University. Xiao Wenjiao, an academician of CAS and President of the Xinjiang branch of CAS, gave a lecture with the theme of "Vicissitudes of the Ocean - Telling from Stones", providing 100 primary school teachers a science feast.

Why are there mountains, plateaus and seamounts (trenches)? Why is there such a large height difference? Why are there so many changes? How to study? Xiao Wenjiao introduced the professional knowledge of continent formation, plate drift, mountain building and so on to the teachers in vivid language. At the same time, they shared the touching deeds of Qian Xuesen, Deng Jiaxian, Chen Jingrun, Deng Jiaxian, Tu Youyou and other older generation scientists, who were deeply concerned about the motherland and bravely climbed the scientific peak. He called on all the science teachers to "never forget their original intention and remember their mission", vigorously carry forward the spirit of scientists, strive to educate talents for the country and contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The lecture was rich in pictures and texts, which stimulated the resonance of the on-site students and deepened their understanding of the spirit of scientists. After the lecture, Xiao Wenjiao gave vivid and scientific answers to the questions raised by the students.

The follow-up lectures will be open to primary and secondary school teachers nationwide through the "Smart Education Platform" of the Ministry of Education.
