Recently, the program A Producing Method for Synesstic Lubricant won the national invention patent, which was finished by researchers of Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry. (Patent Number: ZL 201210525041.3)

With the development of industrialization, a lot of requirements on mechanical lubricant are becoming more and more demanding. In some continuous high temperature, low temperature conditions, mineral oil based lubricants can’t fully meet the requirements. Meanwhile, chemically synthesized lubricant products are increasing applications and widely used in the specific field of lubrication for the superior properties. Among the various synthetic oils, due to the unique molecular structure and strong atom bond, Alkylation base aromatic hydrocarbons have properties that other synthetic oils lack, such as high oxidation stability, good thermal stability and hydrolytic stability, good solubility and dispersion capacity.

The researchers published a kind of producing method for Synesstic lubricant, which takes methanesulfonic acid as catalyst, use naphthalene and 1-Octene to make Friedel-Crafts reaction, then wash the product with alkali and water and take the step of filtration and distillation under reduced pressure. The lubricant synthesized by the method has a low viscosity , low pour point, high oxidation stability, good thermal stability and hydrolytic stability, good solubility and dispersion capacity. The method is simple, high-yield. And the catalyst methanesulfonic can be easily separated and biodegraded, overcoming the separation difficulty, environmental pollution shortcomings of traditional alkylation catalyst (such as aluminum chloride, boron trifluoride diethyl ether, etc).
